Autocross


the PCA (Porsche Club of America) calls it autocross
the SCCA (Sports Car Club of America) calls it solo

The c
ourse is laid out with pylons, in a large parking lot
Individual time trials
Fastest time in each category wins their category
Also awarded: FTD = Fastest Time of Day
Knocking over a standing pylon = 2 second penalty per pylon
Pylons bumped but not knocked over are not penalized

You must wear your seat belt and a helmet

Drivers compete against the other drivers with cars in the same category as them.
a 1966 Porsche 912 without modifications (i.e. "stock") is classified as category "Class J"
Modifications are assigned "points".  You stay in your category with modifications up to 5 points.
i.e. You could add adjustable shock absorbers (2 points) and a shock tower stiffening device
(3 points), and remain in your default category.  If you also added stiffer torsion bars ( 2 points,
for a total of 7 modification points) you'd then be placed in the next higher category/class.

helmet:   latest or next-most-recent SA or M Snell Approval

     3.5 mm = 0.1378 in
     weight = 2138 lbs. (stock)
86mm forged pistons
aluminum oil cooler replaces stock oil cooler
deep sump & aluminum billet sump plate cover
radio removed
dual-chamber brake master cylinder '67 style replaces single-chamber '66 style FOR SAFETY
3-point seatbelts installed FOR SAFETY
