Formula One in 2006
The 900hp 3.0 liter V10 engines of 2005 have been replaced
with 700hp 2.4 liter V8s.
They rev to 21000rpm and use 7-speed gearboxes.
The cars must weigh 1320 pounds, including the driver.
The cars themselves weigh less than 1000 pounds, and up to 220 pounds of
ballast is used.
Toyota has the largest budget of any team for 2006 - estimated to be about $600
million US.
The BAR Honda team will now be the factory Honda team.
Red Bull purchased the Minardi team on November 1, 2005 and rename it Squadra
Toro Rosso (Team Red Bull)
The Jordan team was purchased and is now renamed Midland F1.
Sauber has been taken over by BMW.
